on September 1st & 2nd 2018

The FDRC  are organising a TREC GB affiliated TREC, at KnowlerFarm, again this year. It is a qualifier for the L1 & Level 2 & 2a  National Championships 2019

All levels will be run over the two days, offering a lovely opportunity to stay away with your horse. Usually sleeping in trailers/lorries, or camping, while your horse grazes nearby in a corral. Alternatively, if local, you can go home for the night & return on the Sunday.

The hacking from Stelling Minnis is excellent and varied routes are planned for all Classes.

There are 3 phases to a TREC Competition

Orienteering (POR) – competitors copy a map from a master map & then ridethe route at set speeds depending on level the route. Distances will be between 10 – 15 km for level 1  and 15 - 25 km for Levels 2 & 2a

Sunday :

Control of Paces (MA) – Competitors canter as slowly as possible through a marked corridor and then walk back as fast possible without breaking pace.
Obstacles (PTV) – Competitors negotiate 16 obstacles that represent hazards you might find out hacking eg. Low branches, gates etc.

There will be a Social Supper in the Party Barn on the Saturday evening with Live Entertainment – all are welcome whether competing or helping on one or both days

Helpers needed to run event

If you are coming to compete - is there a family member or friend who is coming with you who could give us an hour or two??
We just need 3 to 5 hours of your time, on one of the days or even on both days. Helpers do not have to be horsey or experienced at TREC as everything will be explained in detail on the day.
Lunch will be provided for all helpers on both days  and if you help out both days, you can choose either a free meal at the Saturday evening social, or £10 towards your expenses.

We are hoping for a full turnout of competitors but this event takes a lot of manpower to run efficiently so we will need lots of helpers so please  put your name forward – you don’t have to be horsey - all will be explained to you.

This is a lovely venue and provides  for the TREC newcomer or more experienced competitors and every shape & size of horse/pony.

If you can help or have any queries please contact us at

on July 29th 2018

This will be a good warm up for The Full TREC later in the year – We will need HELPERS to run this  so if you are free and not riding on the 29th then please contact Sally at

A Versatile TREC Horse competition is  a three phase competiton with an obedience test taking the place of orienteering that you have in a Full TREC.

Phase 1.  Obedience Test - this is ridden in a 20 x 40 arena and the emphasis is on accuracy and obedience of the horse not how the horse goes ie: "with impulsion" etc.  Tests are printed in the schedule.

Phase 2. Control of Paces (MA)- in this phase the horse & rider canters/trots as slowly as possible along a 2m wide marked corridor which may or may not be a straight line and then walks back as fast as they can.

Phase 3. Obstacle Course (PTV) - In this phase the horse & rider tackle a course of obstacles that (in the most part) represent obstacles you might find out hacking - like a gate,  a narrow path, low branches ect

Competitors have times  for each section of the competition.

Data Sheets for each obstacle will be displayed on the day.

Data Sheets & Rules in the e-rulebook on the Trec GB Website.

To go with this (and as most horsey people have a dog too!) we are running a FUN DOG SHOW - with classes for Pedigree & Heinz 57  alike with Champion & Reserve both  getting a portrait as a prize
