FDRC MEMBERS POINTS LEAGUE
We are introducing a new Members Points League
Entry £10.00 will be via MRL at is now OPEN.
You have to go into your MRL account search for Faversham & District
Take OUT your post code & milage and it should magically appear!!
This is a very simple points league but with lots of prize. Remember “points mean prizes!”
On entering you will be sent a points card to complete during the year.
For events in which you take part, points will be allocated as per the attached sheet. Thjs covers horse events not run by FDRC or BRC. Fill in the form and ask the Show Secretary, trainer or organiser (or Committee Member who may be present) to confirm and sign your card.
The League will run from the 1st January to 31st December 2024 with the prizes being allocated at the 2024 AGM (Feb 2025) - You can , of course, enter this at any time during the year.

INFORMATIVE TALK BY FIONA WATKINS on HORSE NUTRITION
7.00pm on TUESDAY 30th APRIL at SADDLESDANE EC CAFE
Fiona Watkins, BSc (Hons), Pro. Dip., is a fully qualified, professional UK-based Independent Equine Nutritionist and she has always been a keen horse lover and started riding at an early age. Her interest in horses and ponies has never dwindled, even with a career lasting fifteen years in corporate business. Ten years ago, she set about putting her passion into practice – with the goal of improving the welfare of equines through nutrition.
She is currently the first person to have been awarded a Professional Diploma from The Open College of Equine Studies (TOCES) in Equine Nutrition. This course took Fiona over two years to complete and unlike other qualifications available in Equine Science, solely concentrates on the physiology of the equine digestive system and associated nutrition for various disciplines. She, therefore, delivers to her clients, a concise working and practical knowledge of all aspects of equine nutrition together with real-life experience from a client base of over five hundred equines.

FDRC 2 DAY CAMP with ANN BERRY - FULL

on May 11th & 12th 2024
PLACES :There are 10 spaces available.
THE COST is £165pp a 50% deposit will be required and your place will only be confirmed on receipt of the deposit.
The remaining 50% will be due by 31st March 2024.
Details:
Arrive Saturday between 9 and 9.30 and leave Sunday mid-afternoon.
Ann Berry will be your host and instructor – with a wealth of experience Ann is an Accredited British
Horse Society Instructor & Level 5 accredited coach. The former owner of Limes Farm Equestrian
Centre with over 100 horses at the training Centre and premier show venue.
Horses and riders will be divided into groups.
First group will start at 10am
Two ridden sessions per group per day including flat, Poles, SJ & XC
Onsite demos – long reining, lunging, join up
Independent speakers – i.e., Feed talk, physio or similar.
Stabling for your horses is provided. This maybe an indoor American barn style on shavings.
Automatic waterers are in place but feel free to bring your own water bucket if your horse hasn’t
used automatic water system before. If you have any specific requirements, please let us know. You
will need your own mucking out tools and we appreciated beds being left up on departure.

MEMBERS ONLY SOCIAL RIDE on SUNDAY 19th May

Meet at 10.00hrs, ready to ride for 10.30hrs
The ride will be for approx two and a half to three hours and will be mix of quiet lanes and
public bridleways, but will also need to cross a busy 'main' road on a couple of occasions.
It is approximately 15 miles, with several places for canters.
PLEASE NOTE
Unlike our other social rides, for this ride there is going to be one group, and therefore all those
attending must be happy to canter together.
Please bring something to 'socialise' with for after the ride (tea/coffee/cake etc!)
Hard hats and plenty of Hiviz MUST be worn.
Parking:
Please park carefully. This is a working farm. Please park on the concrete and where directed.

MEMBERS ONLY SOCIAL RIDE on WEDNESDAY 12th JUNE
from SYNDALE FARM, FAVERSHAM ROAD, OSPRINGE ME13 0RJ

At the kind invitation of John & Vicky Clinch plus at least two other landowners with
adjoining farms in the Norton Area.
Meeting from 10am, ready to ride at 10.30am.
This ride will be mainly over privately owned farmland with some bridleways & country lanes
Aprox. 1.5 to 2 hours (weather depending).
This ride will be limited to 10 riders and will be led by Vicky Clinch
Hard Hats & Hi-viz MUST be worn that conform to the latest BHS Guidelines.
Depending on mix of riders/horses we might split into two groups.
At all times, the groups will go at the speed of the slowest or least confident rider.
No one will be pressured to ride outside of their comfort zone.
Each group will have a dedicated group leader.
Please bring something to 'socialise' with for after the ride (tea/coffee/cake etc!)
There is grass parking with easy access.
Please clear up any hay & muck before you leave – it can be put on the muckheap.

A DAY AT THE RACES on JUNE 22nd 2024 – ONE PLACE LEFT
We are super excited to offer members the chance to go behind the scenes
Day trip to Newmarket to includes :
* Mini bus there and back - pick up locations TBC
* Stable visit to an established, successful flat trainer
* Watch Newmarket come to life and attend the beautiful Newmarket Heath to watch the horsesgallop
* Hearty breakfast in the picturesque town - whilst watching horses casually strolling down the high street
* Then off to the historic July racecourse, the first meeting of the season at this fabulous track for an
afternoon of racing and fun ( hopefully in the sun )
Cost of £50 per person which will include all of the above (except breakfast) and it will be a full day

NEW NEW NEW - OPEN TO ALL
VERSATILE TREC HORSE COMPETITION on SAT. JULY 13th
at BIGBERRY FARM, Bigbury Rd, Canterbury CT4 7NE
Versatile TREC is a three phase competition but instead of orienteering there is an Obedience Test
which is ridden in a 20 x40 arena.
Phase 1:
Obedience Test which is judged on accuracy and obedience consisting of a series of
movements including some related to TREC obstacles e.g. rein back, immobility.
The tests will be included in the schedule for your convenience.
Phase 2:
MA (or Control of Paces) proceeding along a marked corridor of 25m (In Hand) and
between 50 to 150m (Ridden) first at canter (trot for In Hand), as slowly as
possible and then back at walk as fast as possible, both without breaking pace
or stepping outside the corridor.
Phase 3:
PTV (Obstacle Course) This is a course of 10 – 16 obstacles which can represent
obstacles you meet on a hack e.g. a gate, a log, narrow corridor, passing roadworks etc.
N. B. Unlike xc or jumping you may opt out of doing an obstacle as long as you tell the Judge,
you will just get 0 for that obstacle.
The Schedule will be out soon and then entries can open.
Hope to see lots of you having a go at this event.
Ideal for those new to TREC and those more experienced riders.
There will be classes for all levels, In Hand, Novice, Intermediate & Open

The route will be on lanes and bridleways. Hardhats and plenty of Hiviz MUST be worn.
At all times, the groups will go at the speed of the slowest or least confident rider.
No one will be pressured to ride outside of their comfort zone.
Each group will have a dedicated group leader.
This ride is limited to 8 riders. Book early to avoid disappointment!
Parking:
The lanes to this venue are quite narrow and the turning into the venue is quite
tight from one particular direction, so it is best to access for large lorries from
Housefield Road direction.
There is plenty of hard standing.
DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS, as the ground here will be soft and you may get stuck
(as well as making a mess!)
